Now is the time to get your travel visa to Cuba!
While Cuba and the United States have had a rocky relationship, Cuba is, no matter what, an island filled with beauty, culture, and an amazing history. There are fantastic buildings, beaches, and people. While many of these buildings are in disrepair, at every turn there is something new and magical that will draw you into its core. The city literally vibrates with music, and heart. Political and ideological differences should not prevent you from exploring the world around you, and Cuba is a must-see destination.
This new administration is bringing about the opportunities for more people to visit Cuba. Take advantage of this and apply for a travel visa! Go to Cuba! I went several years ago for the film festival and it was amazing- and I plan to return again soon.
The Miami Herald has an interesting article about the upswing in travel to the island, so close to Miami.
And when you DO go to Cuba, I would have to recommend the Hotel Nacional de Cuba. Well, if it was good enough for Frank Sinatra, Winston Churchill, and Nat King Cole (just to name a few), I believe anyone would enjoy the history of the hotel.
Just stay there for a few nights while you explore the city. Yes, I know it may seem a bit of a contradiction, to"visit the people" and then stay in this insanely glamorous hotel, but, well, I like nice hotels, and this one is pretty gorgeous.
