Who doesn't love a Truffle??
Now... Let's get on to another one of my favorite topics.. the TRUFFLE!!
What is there to say about the truffle? They are incredibly difficult to find (hence the truffle hunters) and they make everything taste, well... special!
First, there was the blurb in Page Six last week:
Why am I excited about that? Because, dear friends, when I was just a girl, new to New York and attending NYU, Frankie DeCarlo was the chef at a restaurant called Circa .. owned by my friends Mark, Susan, and Stacy.. who gave me my first taste of restaurant life. And it was FUN! I threw my first party there, with my best friend Sara.. a weekly event called Touch. And for you New Yorkers, Beige started at Circa, too! (since moved to Bowery Bar) This is all when I was 18 and loved staying out until 4 am (which, ahem, was only a few years ago, I swear! Heehee).
Anyhow, Frankie is one of the best chefs in the universe, and deserves every bit of success, and damn... can he make a fabulous meal or WHAT??! When you check the menu, you'll see he sticks to simplicity and quality, rather than inundating you with too many options.. which takes focus away from the food!
So, next time you're in NY.. or if you're there now. do yourself a favor and check out Peasant. (PS, for all you oenophiles, they have an amazing wine cellar that Frankie built by himself!!)
And, finally.. breaking news from the Onion!
ohhh..come ON! You didn't think that I would leave you without a giggle??

Then, as I was googling the truffle, for a little research for this piece, I was so happy to find this article in TwoSpoons, a culinary website in NYC about a little restaurant called PEASANT in New York.THAT the 1.7-pound white truffle Nello Ballan brought back from Italy for regulars at his Madison Avenue eatery was the largest available - except for the 1.8-pound truffle that went to Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican.
